The gameplay emphasizes tactical freedom within sprawling, beautifully crafted levels where you decide your own path—choosing where to move, when to strike, and which targets to eliminate. HITMAN presents a living, continuously evolving assassination playground. The journey launched with an introductory chapter and the Paris location, followed by additional episodes set in Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, and Colorado, plus a special summer bonus chapter. The season concluded with the Hokkaido location in late October. Beyond the story campaign, HITMAN delivers a robust live service filled with dynamic content. Elusive Targets represent the ultimate assassination experience: uniquely designed characters temporarily inserted into familiar locations for brief periods. You get a single opportunity to complete these contracts—fail, and they vanish permanently. Success or failure, that outcome becomes permanent; there are no retries or revisions. Once an Elusive Target is gone, they never return. Escalation Mode offers fresh challenges by gradually increasing difficulty through additional objectives and modified mechanics, encouraging creative experimentation and playful mastery rather than strict realism. Additionally, Contracts Mode lets you design and share custom assassinations with other players, marking specific targets and deciding their fate before competing against friends. Outstanding player-created contracts earn recognition through Featured status, ensuring everyone has new content to experience.
