As the tenth numbered entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, this title marked a significant evolution for the series upon its arrival on sixth-generation hardware. It pioneered the use of fully three-dimensional environments throughout the game world, moving away from the pre-rendered backgrounds that had defined earlier entries. The game also introduced voice acting to the franchise for the first time. The narrative follows Tidus, a celebrated blitzball athlete, as he accompanies Yuna, a young summoner of considerable grace, on her mission to liberate the world of Spira from a devastating cycle of calamity caused by the monstrous entity known as Sin.
